You might be wondering what to expect… |

|
· The room where I will set up my massage table should have enough space for me to move easily around the table. This is approximately the size of one parking space for a car. Also, a room with dimmer lighting and little outside noise will help you to relax. · For your first appointment , you will fill out some medical history forms. On subsequent appointments this will not be necessary, unless there are some changes. · I (the massage therapist) will then ask you some questions that are pertinent to the therapy that you are requesting. This may include where you are having problems and what kind of massage you desire at this time. · I will leave the room so that you may undress to your level of comfort and get onto the massage table and cover yourself with the sheet and blanket provided. I will knock before I re-enter the room. · When I come back into the room, I will start the massage. Conversation is usually limited, unless initiated by you, the client. Each massage will be tailored to a specific client’s needs. You will remain covered by the sheet during the entire massage and only the body parts that are being worked on will be exposed. At no time will genitals be exposed and at no time will breasts on women be exposed. · After the massage is complete, I will leave the room and allow you time to get dressed. Be sure to get off of the massage table slowly. · After you are dressed, I will talk briefly with you about the session and futures sessions if desired. The last thing you will do is render payment. · Please be sure to get plenty of rest and clear fluids over the 24 hours following your massage. |

Top 3 Massage Myths: |
|
Myth: It will hurt Fact: You are in control of the pressure. Massage does not have to be painful to be effective. There are various techniques to use. Speak up during the massage. If something feels uncomfortable, ask the therapist to adjust the pressure to your level of tolerance.
Myth: I’m too fat/thin/old/young Fact: I have provided massage to people of all ages, shapes and sizes from infants to people 90 years young, from adults below “average” weight to men and women of over 300 pounds. I am not interested in judging your body, shape or size. I am focused on your sore muscles and on giving you a massage that is both pleasing and result-oriented for you.
Myth: I have to remove all of my clothing Fact: Are you shy about removing clothing for a massage? YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE ANY CLOTHING. Massage techniques can be adjusted to accommodate massaging people with their clothing on and the massage can be just as effective. However, if you have chosen to remove your clothing for a Swedish– or Relaxation-based massage, undressing will take place in private. You will be draped with a sheet and only the part of the body being massaged will be undraped. Your modesty and personal boundaries are respected at all times.
